The military doesn't interest most ladies of the Zjau-yl Sovereignty. The uncivilized manner of battle, the uncomfortable lifestyle, and the deranged generals always speaking of "honor" and "the joy of battle" are enough to turn most of them away. There are a few, however, who quite are quite fond of war. For them, there are the Curse Lasses.
The Curse Lasses (Anglicization) are a band of women who are known for, and bonded by, only two things: their complete civility off the battlefield and their complete insanity on the battlefield. They are portrayed in all manners of artwork as faceless, just as a matter of Most citizens avoid them, but there are a few who are just curious enough to talk with them. Their reports have been quite pleasant.
The generals, however, know their true identities. Out of respect and admiration, one commander once said, "In civilian matters, the Curse Lasses know their place. In matters of war, the Curse Lasses are in their place." Curse Lasses are not trained for strength or even speed but agility. Each Curse Lass is an excellent gymnast, bending and twisting like what no human ever thought possible (Perhaps...? for another post, dealing with ToT). However, their acts are so quick and complex that they have absolutely no perception of their surroundings; neither sight nor sound can help them (perhaps a more comical reason why they aren't portrayed with faces). Another commander once said, "If I hadn't sent them far into enemy lines, I would have lost more men on my side than those of the enemy."
As of the beginning of the Fourth Age, Curse Lasses have yet to be fielded in battle. They will be, someday...
