In the southern parts of the Orctovian mainland, is a special force that draws its powers from enormous life energy emanating from the dense jungle along its northern coasts. This force, merely known as the 'Sanctum' to its inhabitants, has powers almost unknown to the rest of the world of Noliterre. The vast majority of the populous in the areas The Sanctum resides in worship 'The Omega' (The physical manifestation of the Sanctum, that is believed to have created the oceans and the entire Orctovian continent) as their god and are known as 'Adherents to the Sanctum Pure', these adherents blindly follow the ones who have the ability to bend this force to their will as both their Priests and their Government. These priests exhibit extraordinarily powerful magiks to achieve any goal be it to; control the weather, grow massive plants at a single word, heal any wound, or enslave the minds of the weak. The priests of the Sanctum have a very regimented chain of command, entirely based on who can exhibit the most powerful usages of the Sanctum. This organizational chain came into being sometime around the year 2329 A.F, though an earlier corrupt order following the Sanctum possibly existed. The spiritual head known as 'The Divine' originally held sway over just the Holy State and the Crusaders, but as the world grew more and more unstable in the late 3rd and into the 4th age, it was deemed necessary for the divine to have control over all nations worshiping the Sanctum. These individuals are the most powerful wielders of the Sanctum's power in the whole world of Noliterre and they rule for life, it is not uncommon for them to live unusually long lives (whether it is by their own devices or simply the effects of the immense power flowing through them is not known). The next level of ruler-ship are the 'Dukes of the Pure', the governors of the 5 individual lands; The Holy State of the Sanctum, The Crusaders of the Sanctum, The Grand Duchy of Bolkov, The Patriarchate of Kolzos, and lastly The Trade Republic of Kazan. As the Divine's only directive is to keep heretics (those who do not accept the power of the sanctum into their souls) out of these lands, war is entirely allowed between the different dukes and their lands. However, the amazing powers that are granted do have side affects; Increased instability of the populace of these nations, a supreme weakness to the Darker forces, and strange illnesses stalk these lands.
