Deep in the darkest shadows of the oceans of Noliterre, resides a tribe of beasts known as the Skaine (though this violently aggressive rabble can hardly be considered so organized as to call it a tribe). Massive and reptillian in nature they resemble a wicked cross between a sea-snake and their flying Dragon-like cousin's 'The Shurr' that is pitch black in color and 100 yards in length. Armed with spine shaped teeth the length of the longest human pike, scales a large as a buckler shield, and so hard not even the strongest Orc wielding the most powerful Dwavish weapons could possibly even leave a scratch. They are neigh invincible to all of a Noliterran's works except the darkest of the Magik arts. These Semi-Sentient beasts devour all living beings in their path, anything from whole pods of whales to the mightiest of the human warships can be their prey, going so far as to include other Skaine. Fortunately for the people of the trading empires or other trading nations, these beasts are rare (likely caused by their frequent habit of cannibalizing one another) and highly solitary, tending to stay sequestered in the blackest depths of the Northern Vondexan sea and only coming out every 25 years to pass through the Strait of Mliza on the way to their ancestral mating ground in the Noliterra Archipelago. Although it is assumed that these creatures are semi-sentient and that they have some form of hierarchy very little is known about their mental ability as very few of the Hermetic Scholars who set out to study these creatures ever return. What is known, is that The Skaine have been affected much like the other Races by the darkness, further increasing their ferocity so much so that as the Wars of Shadow drag on, these beasts have been seen ever closer to coastal villages. Only the gods knows what would happen were The Skain to make a concerted attack on all Noliterran traffic on the High Seas.
