THE KOBOLDS
EARLY PERIOD
Through the ages every being has felt the desire for more, some have called it a sin, others have called it an integral part of life, this desire is greed. Kobolds know greed more than any other creature as they are greed made manifest in husks of the earth. But they did not start out this way... Along time ago in the first age they were known as imertia dwarfs, a species of dwarf who in the search for riches dug grand tunnels through the earth to tap new pockets of wealth. However, as the continents were split asunder their tunnels were destroyed and they had to retreat to the surface of an unfamiliar world. In their new surface dwellings they made shrines to the sun imerti where they would thank the gods for the sun which gives them warmth and brightens their day by sacrificing those who denounced the gods so that the sun may nourish itself on their blood and rise the next day.
THE FALL
In the 13th epoch since their rise to the surface the imeria dwarfs has grown fat and decadent with their wealth, in signs of vanity they build grand monuments to the gods, even perhaps to rivel them. The emperor kulaxyagan the third in an attempt to superced his mortality and gain Godhood went to the grand mountain trugulac. This mountain would later be the sight of the greatest shame of the imeria dwarfs. There he sacrificed en mass 10,000 faithful in the name of the dark God drakxulgand by throwing them into the mouth of the mountain. However, the blood of the sacrifices did not saite the dark God and in anger drakxulgand made the mountain explode. This explosion turned land pitch black with soot and the sky dark as night for 666 nights, fire rained in red streaks from the sky. Only the miners survived in their rocky hovels. They were the last of the dwarfs stranded from the light, and of civilization... It would remain this way for 1,000s of years.
THE DARK PERIOD
The isolation would take its toll on the dwarfs without light or food they began to go insane with only the light of riches to sustain them. At times they resorted to canibalism when they could not find moss or when the the rats and snakes of the caves were too few in number . They grew thin and rough , their eyes became bulbous to see better in the dark, their skin turned blue gray as the soot and ash covered their skin. After a time the dwarfs lost all hope, the cast away their gods and began worshiping the "shines" that had always made them prosper and gleamed like the sun which they so revered. Through voices in the rock they learned that they could sustain themselves on the gleam of wealth. Slowly this worship evolved into the current religion of the kobolds goh'da'kadque where the worship the God goh'ka the many eyed God of the earth and the endless depths. "Gems are his eyes, gold and silver his blessings, coal, sulfur his curses, and magma his wrath. He grants us life through wealth, life through greed, but the maw of the earth is ever filled with avarice and desires souls of eternity for the lives he grants us."
Following the voice of goh'ka the surviving kobolds they began burrowing thought imeria to claim more wealth and grow their ranks by imparting the souls of the ancestors into "shinies" so they may grow and spawn new kobolds.
THE RISE
After a thousand years of waiting beneath the earth goh'ka commanded the kobolds to rise out of the earth and claim lands unseen for years as their own. The sudden rise of the kobolds caught many of the other natives by surprise as such the natives were captured and sacrificed to goh'ka by throwing the natives into deep pits with spikes called the teeth of the earth. As time went on their God led them to new wealth as long as he was fed and sacrifices were made in his name. As time went on the kobolds would dominate the majority of west imeria until the arrival of colonists from the old continent of noliterre. The first to come upon imeria wee the dwarfs who greedily mined anything in sight eventually they came upon one of the kobolds spawning gold veins at which point the desecrated goh'ka's gift of life which angered the God enough to make him flood the mine with magma to kill these invaders and fill the kobolds with everlasting hatred for those who would steal goh'ka's blessings.
