Ok. So here's what I'm putting down, distilled to its essence: Ley lines operate like electrical circuits Overuse of these ley lines can create catastrophic failure Failure of ley lines doesn't destroy magic, but prevents the inhabitants of Noliterre from tapping into it for while while the ley lines regenerate, somehow These ley lines will become usable again, after a TBD period (likely in the high 100's/low 1,000's)

Exactly how far below the surface do the usable ley lines lie?

A few feet, maybe. Never really thought about it

Just a few feet? Really? I thought they were buried deep in the earth, part of the world's structure, not some fancy tinsel for the tree!

Wel,, it makes more sense this way, because if they were some part of an underlying structure, their failure would probably end magic. ORctiova's already looking like it will be third-world next game. Let's not destroy its chance to recover.

Why does it looks like you're trying to eradicate magic and magical nations forever?

IT's because the plan is for magic to decrease in power and influence as we move forward. It may make a comeback someday, though.

My involvement in the game as an Orctovan severely affects my opinion on this. I had plans for the ley lines and I guess that's just gonna end in a disaster and will kill most of us? It feels like that's where we're going.

No not at all. By the time of the next game, magic will be on the mend. It's just a way to explain why Orctova will lose.

I thought that the reason why this was happening was because we needed an explanation for all the magic-based Orctovan nations that fell (got booted) in the game.
Also, as a remedy, are we still keeping the "intersections can release energy into other people" stuff? I would like to use that, if that ends up being the case.

Perhaps so we still keep magic for the future, the magic could spread out from the ley lines so thinly that it is mostly unusable, so it will take a while for them to reform?

There is a very simple solution to the destroyed ley lines for magic users that I think we may be overlooking. I'm not telling, though. I think I'm going to use it.

I have a thing i'll write that will let magic cling onto survival, no idea if i will have time to do it tho. It's gonna involve the crystalised mana i wrote about before.

Wait, if there are ley lines under the earth. . . can we not harness them? Oh, I see it. Corporations controlled magic use. Power Plants for the regulation and distribution to mages.
Think of the possibilities.
Think of the Science!
Think of the money!!
